My Irk for Today: Forums

My irk for today is, people in forums. Mostly the forums I'm in. I'm pretty sure there are similar instances in other forums but I'm just going to talk about the ones I'm in. People like to complain. A lot. More than they would in person about things they don't understand. They complain like they are owed something.

For example, this one forum I'm on for Super Poke Pets are full of crazies. Super Poke Pets is a little game where you take care of a chosen animal and you decorate their habitat with weekly new items. Now, you'd think a sweet little game like this couldn't cause drama, but it does! I thought only conventionists, hobbyists, and obsessives alike would cry and whine but forum people on this site do too.

"Why do they release things at weird hours?" "They don't care about their users!" "They don't release items at good times for working people." "Why are things so limited?"

I feel like I was slapped in the face. I love the new SPP items by users but like many this morning I was unable to have the privilege of enjoying the new plushies because of hoarders. They were all gone by 2:38am and have not been restocked since. I have checked for the past 3 hours. What is up? First yesterday the site kept crashing when I was playing with friends etc.. now the new stuff is horded away. Maybe a 6 item limit on them should be put in place for the first release day. I over slept by 14 minutes sign on and they were gone. I talked with another player and she was up and on at the time of release and never saw them. They went fast. I am really bummed!

What??? My husband, Kyle, works for Slide. These people obviously don't think they sleep, eat, or breathe. Kyle works very long hours. I mean crazy long, and they think they don't care?

My irk of today is newscasters on TV. I believe journalists in general should be neutral. I've always watched News Hour with Jim Lehrer, PBS news, and the occasional public access local news. I just hate having to watch news on any other channel. The only other exception is BBC News.

The reason why I bring this up is because lately, at least in California, our newscasters make me feel like I just want to tell them to shut up and just tell me what is going on! I don't want to hear your *clever* banter or what your opinion is on Bush leaving office. There are opinion segments and other things for that. When you *try* to report news with a joke or an opinion added to the end you make yourself sound like a talk show or make the news you are reporting less credible.

Anywho, that's my annoyance of the day.

We made this video using a technique called "pixilation", which is a fancy term for stop-motion animation done with real people instead of puppets. We shot it, frame by frame, with Raquel's Canon DSLR over a period of nine months. Those of you who stopped by our house might have noticed some mysterious tape marks on the floor in the living room. Those were for the camera tripod and our feet.

Squidoo Preview

My review of Spoonflower.

I made an order of an 8x8 swatch of the above fabric on March 4th 2009.
Order shipped March 18th 2009.
Received today March 23rd 2009.

Turn around time is approximately 13 business days. (not including weekends).
With weekends it is about 2 1/2 weeks.

Spoonflower

On color, I do have to say the colors are very saturated and bright. A little brighter than I would like, but most people will not notice. It looks and feels like something you could get at Joanns. You know that more affordable quilters fabric. Since Spoonflower is still in beta stage, I will only use them occasionaly. Though, I do have to say the blacks are very nice. I will also assume when the dark areas are bigger, they will not look as saturated.

Hair Test

So I am now a really cheap bastard. XD

Well not so cheap. I have always been an advocate for "do it yourself" if you can do it. I have always been able to dye my own hair. I could never ever ever ever have anyone do it for me because they've never done it right. Cutting my hair is another matter. I told myself... "SELF! One day you will save your money and cut your own hair... besides... it is only hair!"

So today I decided it was THE DAY. I looked online for tips and found this:

It actually worked! I am very pleased. Now I will never go to the salon again! (well unless I don't want layers anymore). Haha!
