Many people ask how I paint my one color lips. I know I've been slacking and I do apologize for not updating my tutorials. But life gets busy right? Someday when I have more time I will update it. But for now this is what my procedure consists of:
1. I draw a template of the kind of faceup I'd like the doll to have.
2. I clean the surface with rubbing alcohol and remove any dirt or old paint to prepare for the next step.
3. I sand the
surface of the faceplate with a very very low grit sand paper. I do
this since I can not prime the surface of the plastic. This helps the
paint adhere to area.
4. I mix colors to match the idea I have in the drawing. I thin out the paint so the paint is almost like melted ice cream.
5. I paint
the top lip first with the faceplate right side up. I always start with the general shape
and fill it in with thin layers. Then I do the bottom lip with the faceplate upside down.
The key to lip painting is thin layers. Paint one thin layer, LET IT
DRY. Paint another layer, LET IT DRY.
6. Finishing Spray and Varnish. Then when you get the correct thickness of paint applied you let it dry. I sometimes wait 15 - 20 minutes. Then I spray it with MSC Matte. Then I apply an acrylic varnish to make the lips shiny. If you want a higher gloss you can buff the varnish with a nail buffer and VOILA! Lovely even shiny lips. Buffing also helps smooth out lumps in the paint.
Hope this helps!

What are your neighbors like? (The ones you live near or next to, not the ones in your Vox neighborhood!)
I live next to a half-way house. Mind you, they weren't there when Kyle and I moved in. Life since then has been interesting. To add, there is a senior citizens home right next to that. What does that mean? It means we get fire trucks and sirens almost every other day. Whenever I hear one I think:
1. Someone has died or was injured at the Senior Citizen's home;
2. Someone tried to harm someone in the half way house.
It does bother me a little more that there are potentially dangerous people in the half way house. Most are harmless and keep to themselves, but there are those that are obviously volatile. For example, there was the one large man that just would stare you down as you walked by. There were times where he was verbally violent when he was indoors. We know this for a fact because we could hear him while we were in the bathroom or just watching TV in our bedroom. This part of our apartment sat adjacent to said building. Eventually police came and took him away.
Now look at this wig on ebay.
I really don't care that they are selling it, but it is very similar to my doll and my own hair.
I like how it is stated as "FUNKY"
haha!
What do you all think?
XOXO

The buttons are vintage glass which I found at Britex. I wish I had more time to go to flea markets. They always have those giant bins of vintage buttons. I also remember when we went to the flea markets in Paris. If only I picked up those!!! So many gorgeous ones there. =(
The pattern I found in a knitting magazine. (If you want details please feel free to e-mail me.) It's supposedly based off of a 1940s pattern.
The final result is so wonderful! I just love the sleeves. It's a cute little short cardigan, (supposedly so it's nice on high waisted) and the buttons just add that special touch without making it super fancy or casual. I love how this cardigan is so classy/feminine without making me feel lolitaish. haha!

Yummy confiserie in Hayes valley. Tons of handmade candy and also delicious handmade cotton candy. The one in the photo was Lavender flavored. It was spectacular!
Looking at their website they also have a pâtisserie in the ferry building. YUM! Must visit soon!

You may think it is GROSS sounding but it really was amazing when it was around. Snapple Pie. Think Willy Wonka. You could taste the apple pie goodness as well as the crust. It was also fantastic heated up.
-sniff- I love you Snapple Pie!
